One of my old college buddies had me over to his house last weekend. He was eager to show off his newly finished basement, which included something he referred to as his “Bachelor Room”. As the neon sign has been seen as a necessary part of the decor in any bar, from the corner pub to the trendy night club, the lack of neon in a home bar sticks out like a sore thumb. A neon sign’s warm glow inspires nostalgic memories of good times had in the past and helps creates a relaxed atmosphere, which is essential to any bar theme. I bought a neon sign for my friend to put in his room. The room automatically felt much more like an authentic bar the second my friend switched it on. The only thing that could make feel even more authentic would be more neon signs.
